Winter School Example Program

Day 1 Arrival to Stockholm

– Arriving at Stockholm Arlanda airport

– Dinner at the hotel and having a rest

Day 2 City Module: Stockholm

– Breakfast at the Hotel and check out

– Guided sightseeing tour by bus and visit to Wasa ship museum

– Ferry leaves to Finland

– Dinner on board

Day 3, Science & Technology module

– Breakfast on board and then arrival to Turku

– Find the scientist in You: Extreme temperatures and Experiments at the university lab

– Walking through the campus of University of Turku and having a lunch in a student restaurant called Macciavelli

– Bus leaves to Tuorla planetarium

-Wonder of the stars of the sky: Visit to the Tuorla Planetarium show at the planetarium (in English or Finnish)

-Visiting the exhibition at the Tuorla cave

-Guidet tour around the observatory area

-Short lecture about what kind of research is done at the observatory

-Back to the hotel and after that is dinner

Day 4, Science & Technology module, Closing ceremony

-Lego robot workshop

-Workshop continues – Closing ceremony & diploma, photo session

-Dinner and checkout from the Hotel

-Transfer to Turku railway station

-Night train from Turku to Rovaniemi. 2hh rooms with toilet and shower

 

Day 5, Nature Module

-Breakfast in train restaurant

-Arriving to Rovaniemi train station and a visit in Arktikum, whic is world famous science park

-Bus transfer from Rovaniemi to Levi ski center

-Orientation to the Nature Module

-Dinner, free time

Day 6, Nature Module

-ice Fishing experience

-Cross ski training

Day 7, Nature Module

-Outdoor survival skills

-Lunch in open fire

-Baking and cooking

Day 8, Nature Module

-Snow shoe hiking

-Lunch in open fire

-Visiting original reindeer farm “Sammuntupa”

Day 9, Nature Module

-Breakfast and checkout from the Hotel

-Bus transfer to Rovaniemi and Santa Claus village

-Experience Santas home, little elfs, magic of

Christmas and then you can take picture with Santa Claus

-Night train from Rovaniemi to Helsinki in 2hh rooms with shower and toilet

Day 10, Helsinki day

-Breakfast in the train

-Arrival to Helsinki main railway station and leaving the luggage to the Hotel

-Sightseeing by bus in Helsinki city centre

-Check in to the Hotel

Day 11, Back to Home

-Breakfast at the Hotel, packing, feedback session of the group, check-out

-Lunch

-Transportation to Helsinki-Vantaa airport

-Flight back home
